Life's too short to listen to cheap and nasty headphones, writes Adam Turner. These days just about everyone is wired for sound. Carrying your music library in your pocket can be a lifesaver, especially if you're stuck on a train or a plane. Debate rages as to which are the best portable entertainment devices but most people treat headphones as an afterthought.
Henkin is one of four members of the Philadelphia-based band that has embarked on a tour to find inspiration from an unlikely group of creative people: elementary school children. "We knew that kids' minds would be an incredible resource to be mined for songs, and they haven't proven us wrong yet," Henkin said. "They're brilliant when you ask them to be." After school on Monday, the band brainstormed with third- through fifth-grade students, using the ideas to put together a song that night.
